Course Description
The overall objectives of this class are for students to understand the basic components of game design and to how construct a series of games using these principles. Students will also learn the process of iterative design which will govern the process they will use to construct these games. Students will leave the class with the abilities to create story-based role player games, to think systematically to ensure all components of their games function together properly, to provide constructive feedback through the process of test gaming and analysis, and to creatively solve problems that arise during game design and testing.
Students will use the game design platform GameStar Mechanic to build their own story-based games. Students will receive continuous feedback from their peers as they play-test their way to a final product that they will publish online. The platform is free for all, so I encourage anyone interested in game design to create an account and play along with us!
